Boss Level Review (Hulu)

Hey everyone welcome back to Silver Screen Spectacle! We’ve got another new movie review today with the new Hulu action film Boss Level. I knew basically nothing going into this movie other than its cast and a one-sentence synopsis. So as a fan of this cast and time loop films what did I think?

I had a lot of fun with this movie. Frank Grillo gives a good performance. His physical presence is strong and incredible in the action sequences. What surprised me was how funny he was throughout this film. This is mostly a one-man show, though Mel Gibson and Naomi Watts do fun work in their supporting roles. Joe Carnahan did a phenomenal job directing. The action sequences were always easy to follow, but a ton of fun. They felt very video game-like but also evoked John Wick, especially in the third act. As for the script, it’s nothing incredible, but it works for this movie. The time travel logic doesn’t make a ton of sense and the story is pretty bland. It makes up for it with plenty of funny moments and well-written set-pieces. The visual effects are good for a low-budget streaming film, and they mix it with plenty of practical stunt work.

Overall Boss Level was not cinematic art, but it was a fun action movie that I could see myself occasionally revisiting. So, guys, that’s it for this one if you enjoyed it give it a share and I’ll see you next time.

7/10
